Louis Chevrier Appointed Account Director – Liftgate at CANVEC

Nomination – Liftgate Account Manager

At CANVEC, promotions don’t happen overnight. They are earned through years of hands-on work, sound decision-making, and a deep understanding of the field. That’s exactly the path taken by Louis Chevrier, recently appointed Account Manager – Liftgate / Tailgate.

A Career Built Piece by Piece

Louis has been part of the CANVEC team for nearly six years. Early on, he took on a major challenge: structuring the parts department.

What was once a small, inefficient stock room became—under his leadership—a fully organized, high-performing parts store, supported by a team of five employees.

Today, the department offers the full range of essential heavy-duty truck parts: oils, lights, filters, hitch components, specialized parts—everything needed to keep fleets on the road.

More importantly, Louis played a key role in building strong supplier relationships, opening the door to major national accounts. In just five years, the department evolved from a local operation into a structure recognized across Canada.

The Liftgate Shift: Expertise That Stands Out

Over the past three years, Louis’s focus has increasingly shifted toward liftgates / tailgates.

With the rapid growth of CANVEC’s liftgate team, he naturally took on responsibility for the sales side, while remaining involved in parts and installations. His new role simply formalizes what was already happening in practice: Louis is now a central point of contact for liftgate expertise—for both clients and partners.

He now serves as Account Director, with a clear specialization in liftgates, complemented by expertise in temperature control systems, notably Webasto.

A Typical Day for Louis… Not So Typical

No two days are exactly alike, but certain priorities remain constant.

The day often starts with a good coffee, followed by a review of incoming and outgoing orders. Fast response times are critical—parts availability, lead times, and customer follow-ups are always top priority.

From there, the day includes:

  • Managing customer orders, deliveries, and invoicing

  • Preparing quotes for liftgate / tailgate projects

  • Advising customers on technical solutions

  • Coordinating with liftgate partners to ensure parts availability (including MAXON, WALTCO, DHOLLANDIA, ANTHONY LIFTGATES, ANTEO, and others)

  • Analyzing inventory and identifying non-standard parts based on customer needs

Louis is also closely involved in CANVEC’s liftgate parts e-commerce operations, ensuring SKUs are up to date and that orders from across Canada are processed efficiently.

The Canadian market remains the strategic priority—where CANVEC holds a real competitive advantage and well-established expertise.

One Clear Goal: Becoming Québec’s Liftgate Reference

According to Louis, the vision is both simple and ambitious:

“Make CANVEC the go-to reference in Québec for all liftgate needs—sales, service, installation, and parts.” — Louis Chevrier

This vision is built on several key strengths:

  • Human-centered support from start to finish

  • On-site evaluations conducted directly at customer locations

  • Ongoing training to stay current with industry standards and evolution

  • Strong partnerships with manufacturers who also train CANVEC teams

  • A 360° expertise focused on solutions—not just sales

Here, customers don’t deal with “sales reps,” but with technical advisors who truly understand field realities.

And as Louis puts it:

“No matter the vehicle—pickup, box truck, or heavy-duty truck—if you have a liftgate, CANVEC can help.” — Louis Chevrier

A Fast-Growing Market

The liftgate market remains underserved in Québec, despite strong demand elsewhere. This represents a clear opportunity: better serve existing customers while developing new partnerships, regardless of fleet size or volume.

Trends for 2026 are very clear:

  • Increased demand driven by safety concerns

  • Reduced physical labor and injury risks

  • Greater automation in material handling operations

  • Labor shortages and a growing need for efficiency

According to Global Market Insights, rising labor costs are pushing companies to invest more in material handling equipment to improve operational efficiency and reduce reliance on manual labor.

A Promotion That Reflects CANVEC’s DNA

Louis Chevrier’s promotion perfectly reflects CANVEC’s culture: developing in-house expertise, taking a long-term view, and staying close to real-world operational needs.

With this new role, CANVEC strengthens its ability to deliver complete, fast, and tailored liftgate solutions across Québec—in both French and English.
